Ioan Pohariu graduated from the Academy of Theater and Film in Bucharest in 1994, becoming a professional actor and being an employee of the Odeon Theater in Bucharest.
He had numerous collaborations with representative theaters in Romania.
As a young actor, he was greeted with joy by the Bucharest artistic world, offering him numerous opportunities: he played in the “Ancient Trilogy” directed by Andrei Șerban at the Bucharest National Theatre, in “The Misanthrope” by Moliere, directed by Valeriu Moisescu, “The visit of the old lady” by Durrenmatt, directed by Felix Alexa, both plays at the L. S. Bulandra Theatre.
It was Stephen the Great from the play “Ştefan Vodă”, after B. Şt. Delavrancea (performance award at the Student Theater Festival, Timisoara, 1992), Romeo from “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, Egmont from “Egmont”, by J. W. Goethe, all directed by Cătălin Naum; Murgu from “Youth without old age and life without death” (L. S. Bulandra Theatre), adaptation after Eduard Covali (award for the best show Youth Theater Festival, Costineşti, in 1993) and Prince Tartaglia from “Love of Three Oranges ” (Teatrul Mic București), adaptation by Carlo Gozzi (big prizes at the International Theater Festival, Braşov and at the Imagine Theater Festival, Satu Mare and the Debut Award at the UNITER Festival, Bucharest in 1995), both directed by Nona Ciobanu; The shadow of Thiestes from “Agamemnon” (Prize for the best show at the Theater Festival, Budapest in 1993) by Seneca, Cucuta from “Peleş Impărat”, after Mateiu Caragiale, one of the hunchbacks from “The Hunchback Farce” after Anton Pann ( the awards for the best show at the “Anton Pann” Festival, Bucharest, 1993 and at the Student Theater Festival, Sibiu, 1994), all directed by Grigore Gonţa at the National Theatre; Valerio from “Leonce and Lena” (Odeon Theatre), after Georg Buchner and Felix from “The Blue Bird” (Bucharest National Theatre), after M. Maeterlinck, both directed by Adriana Peres; and at the Odeon Theatre: Gavrilescu, the pose of the artist from “La gypsies”, after M. Eliade, directed by Alexander Hausvater, Pullcinela from the comedy dell’arte “The Liar”, after Carlo Goldoni, directed by Vlad Mugur, Mime from “Carlo contra Carlo”, by Paul Ioachim, directed by Horatiu Mălăele (grand prize at the Romanian Comedy Festival, Bucharest in 1995).
Ioan represented Romania in Nantes, France, during international meetings of actors of the European Union of Theaters and in Berlin, Germany, at a workshop of pantomime performers – M.A.P.A. Mime Center.
In South Korea, he colored his experimental palette playing roles such as Pierrot and Charlot.
Together with the director Nona Ciobanu, he made tours in Mexico to Pan Chan (Palenque – Chiapas) and San Cristobal de las Casas, with the “Time and shadow” project, inspired by the famous Mayan bible “Popol Vuh” and then continued in 2007 at the Institute of Art from Santa Fe, USA
The meeting with the director Carmen Enache in 1995, yoga practitioner and teacher, was a turning point in his life, a moment in which Ioan firmly stepped on the path of awakening the soul through the divine initiatic art. Since then, all the roles performed have transformed from simple masks worn with mastery, into real spiritual lessons that the actor assimilates and also shares with the audience.

As an actor of the Sophrozin Theatre, Ioan performed a multitude of roles, including the Apostle John in the ritual performance “Sacrifice”, the Watcher from “The First Beauty”, plays created by the director Carmen Enache; The androgyne from the play “Divine Game of Happy Life”, the Doctor from “Angels of Light”, both plays being his own creations; the role of Herman in the show “Journey to the Rising Sun”, directed by Aimen Klimmeron, adapted from the short story by Herman Hesse; Abgar, King of Edessa from “One Man, One Letter, One City”, directed by Sebastian Paul; The Soul of the Nation in “The Gift of the Archangels”, the Soul of Planet Earth in “The Gift of the Heart”, the Spiritual Guide in “The School of Love” and the role of the Madman after God in “The Game of Discovery”, all these last plays bearing the directorial stamp of Hermina Seraphim.
At the same time, Pohariu is a founding member of the Arte Diem Society and the Anima Mundi Foundation, the president of the Sophrozin Cultural-Humanitarian Foundation, coordinator of the SiddhaArta Initiatic Godly Art Camps and the Actor’s Godly Art courses, coordinator of the Faculty of Divine Art within Integral Studies Academy, coordinator of the SiddhaArta International Initiatic Art Academy.
He is a student of Yoga courses in group 28, student of Shaivism in group 26 and coordinator of initiatory art workshops both in Romania and in many other countries, such as Hungary, Denmark, Czech Republic, England, Moldova, Italy and Argentina…
He is aware that authentic art is, especially for a yogi, a way of spiritual perfection, a wise way of awakening the soul and finding oneself…
